Peek A Boo

So Lydia pulled out one of my dresses and started playing peek a boo. I loved it.

Nails

So I did something that I haven't really done before. I gave myself a manicure. Yes that's my hands and the nails are fake. I only did my nails once before and I did a really bad job at it. I did it this time "for real." I remember looking at my moms hands once when she had her nails done and thinking that they were beautiful. Little did I know that they can be a huge pain. But fun.

Things I didn't like about having nails.
- Everything gets trapped under the nails. Food, diaper rash cream, vacuum dust, you name it.
- It's hard to rub shampoo deep into hair.
- Hard to type.
- You have to keep the glue handy so if you break off a nail you can out it back on.

Things I liked.
- It's fun to drum your nails.
- Dane liked neck rubs.
- It was fun to know my nails actually looked good for once.

So, end result. I liked them, and I will do it again, but not all the time.

New pictures

So Dane had to take my computer with him when he went out on an install, and so I almost missed my resolution to blog at least once a week. Fortunately I did not miss it. So I have some pictures to add.

Lydia's first pigtails. I need to get some smaller rubberbands.

This is Alanna wearing the shirt grandma and grandpa picked up for her in Hawaii two years ago. It's an extra small.

Asher can climb up the door jam like a monkey. I am not sure how he does it. But I should not be very surprised since he started climbing out of his crib at nine months.

Lydia's Film Debut

I put Lydia on the bed and the video camera was there. When I found out there were about 15 new videos on the camera, all about 5 seconds long, except for this one. I just thought it was really cute.

Update

Time for a family update:

Dane: Only 4 months left of his program (okay, more like 4.75) and then he is DONE! it will be so nice to have our Monday and Tuesday nights back. I feel like we have to cram all of our family fun time into one night. He is enjoying his new job and we are waiting to see if they are going to send him to the Ukraine this summer. (Would I want to go with him? Not sure).

Alanna: Started swim classes again and she seems to be doing pretty well. Her biggest problems are not wanting to put her face in the water and she can't float. Well do I know those problems. She has quite a few friends just here in the main area in front of our apartment and she always runs out the door if her friends are out there.

Asher: Also can't float but he is a little better about putting his face in the water. He likes having friends around too but it's a little hard sometimes because the other boys play rough and Asher isn't used to that and it's not his way. He is so protective of his sisters, it's so sweet to watch.

Lydia: Is being stubborn. I know she can walk, I know she can, at least a little more than she currently is, but she insists on crawling. I hope she gets it figured out before the summer when it's too hot for pants. But then maybe she will decide she does not like having scraped knees and just get up and do it. She is still such a sweetie, just a wonderful baby.

Heather: I cleaned up my bedroom!! Sounds dumb, but it was an ongoing project. Anything that doesn't have a place gets thrown in there. Still hoping for a church calling, nervous about the sunbeam teacher that just moved. Just being a mom and trying to get my voice back. I never realized how much I actually sing during the week and it's annoying when I can't.

Wait for it....

Alanna is getting freckles!!! You have to look closely and they are across the top of her nose and barely on her cheeks, but they are there!! So cute! Who knew!!

Easter

We do Easter egg hunts on Saturday rather than Sunday, and thus year most of the kids in our little apartment area (and four friends)did a community egg hunt. It worked out great because there really isn't enough room to do a bunch of separate ones. We had a good time.

Oh joy...

Lydia got a hold of a box of crackers, the kind that have three stacks in individual wrappers. She is now happily knocking two of the bags together. Something tells me I might not want to open them after she is done.

Alanna was quite the little grown up today in a dark pink shirt with some little pearls. quite cute.

I can finally cut Asher's hair to all the same length again. Of course he doesn't want me to....
