This slow thing

We pulled our old computer out recently. It is the slowest thing I have used in a very long time, maybe since the days of the SE's. Of course, several years ago this was a fast speed. It is amazing the rate that technologies change everything at. Now I am swearing at this computer because it is too slow, but I was happy with it a few years ago.

The same thing happens with DVD"s and VHS's. That one actually annoys me. No one sells VHS players any more unless they are combined with a DVD player. But now they are upgrading DVD's too. Okay, buy everything once so I have to buy it two more times. Someone is making huge bucks on this idea. I wouldn't mind so much if it was me!

Sundays

I usually think that Sundays are long days. But then I have noticed something lately. When my kids are sick I do not take them to church and then Sunday is even longer. At least Sunday provides something for the kids to do for three hours. When we stay home we try to still honor the sabbath and don't go shopping or run errands like I normally could with the time.

Also, I like to try and clean the house for Sunday so then I really have nothing to do on Sundays. I try to come up with things but sometimes it's hard. My Sunday nap gets hampered a lot too since the kids don't really stay down. So, all in all I think I prefer going to church.

Smells

I really am grateful for a sense of smell. I like how they can call up memories of other times. I think of all the senses that I have this one does it the most often.

Smells I like: coconut, wintergreen, peppermint, real roses, bakery, chocolate, baby soap, watermelon, rain, outside after it rains, etc.

There are more than that but I have to say that I got up at 6:30 this morning after being up three times during the night and the only thing I want to "smell" right now is sleep.

What (or why) is it..

1: With older people who buy a shiny new car and then drive it at 10mph below the speed limit?

2: With it taking three days or more for me to recover after my dance class and then I just go back and do it all over again and get all sore?

3: When there is a tv show (and even chic flick movies sometimes) with a married couple, in most cases they are going to get divorced and the female part of the partnership is the crazy one?

4: That weeds always grow faster and better than the things you really do want in your yard?

5: With allergies becoming a year round problem?

6: That laundry is never done?

7: You understand what the teacher is talking about, you follow along well, but when the teacher calls on you, you suddenly can't answer the question?

8: Licking your lips actually dries them out?

9: That a penny is bigger than a dime?

10: With this post?

Test

I had my first test in three years today. The longest stretch I have gone without a test. It was only 30 questions and not too bad. Yet I found myself doing all of the same things I have always done with tests. I got nervous, worried that I was not reading the questions right. I've always been told to double check my answers but I have actually learned that that is not the best advice for me. I usually wind up changing too many things.

I finished the test in about ten minutes today, definitely one of the fastest times I have ever had on any test at any time. And then of course I went outside and started to second guess myself. Oh well. All I really need to do is pass the class. Maybe if I keep that thought firmly in my head I can finally overcome test anxiety.

This morning

So, this morning I finally took all of the clothes off the floor to fold them. Okay there weren't that many but I kept putting it off. I swear, the laundry never stops around here. Anyway, I came to find that half of the clothes I washed were ones that I had pulled out of the last laundry piles because they were too small, stained, what have you. Oh joy. I love washing clothes twice in a row. Now sometimes I do wash things twice, but that's usually because something went through the washer that shouldn't have and if you clean things right away they are less ruined than when they come out of the dryer. But this was ridiculous.

I tried to sleep and take an extra nap this morning but of course that did not happen and I got really cranky with the kids because they woke up the baby who had gotten up at 6 and I finally got her back down but then... the inevitable cycle. Oh how I don't like it. I was so cranky and I spoke in anger, no yelling but ready to cry. then I climbed back under the covers had a good long talk with myself and now I am up and in a better mood. Sorry kids about earlier.

Japanese

So I started taking a class at the CC this week. Japanese. Thanks to DH I was able to learn some things before I went into class, but I am finding some other things a little difficult. First, how in the heck am I supposed to remember all of the sentences? It's vocabulary times five words per sentence.

And then the cadence of the words. Up vs. down, long vs short. I am afraid I have a really terrible accent. Okay, I know I just started taking this class and that things are not going to be perfect but man, I really sound american trying to bluff my way through.

Oh well, that's the way it is. I can accept that. Now, to study. Open the book. Wait until DH gets home so we can carry on a conversation.
